When you think of this series, surely in your mind, you can summon the famous Simjanović melody and the voice of Bane Bumbar, the trademark of this series. The series began airing in 1975, and it follows the life of Bane Bumbar from 1960 when he was fifteen years old, to 1969.
We saw all of Bane’s adventures and trials: unsuccessful attempts to become an athlete, going to dances with Uške, Miki Rubiroza, and Combeta, falling in love with his new schoolmate Lepa, which temporarily leads him to leave his constant crush Goce. There’s also Divna, with whom he experiences his first disappointment, then an attempt to reach the world via Italy, thwarted by his parents. Then, buying a used Fiat, and in 1969, marrying Biljana and solving the housing issue.
At the end of each episode, we had the opportunity to hear the chronological order of events from the year in which the episode is set: where Tito was at the time, why Andrić went to Stockholm, who opened the bridge on the Danube, and who from the Western world vacationed in Dubrovnik… These events were narrated off-screen by Bane himself and ended with the famous quote: “And I have decided to…”.
