About Yugoslavia – Josip Pejakovic

I was born in a country that had some twenty airports, large airports where the biggest airplanes could land. I was born in a country with one vast, beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful sea in the world: the Adriatic Sea.

I lived and achieved fame in a country that was richer than any other in the world in its diversity, where differences blended together so beautifully. At least, that was how I saw it.

I was born in a country that had hundreds of lakes. I never managed to discover them all. These are lakes where even today there are species that exist nowhere else in the world.

I was born in an ecologically extraordinary country where, I suppose that is how it goes, there lived some people who did not deserve it. People lived there who had come from somewhere else, or, as I often say, “from nowhere.”
