Cockta – The Drink of Youth

Cockta was first introduced to the public in 1953 in Planica. Its creator, Emerik Zelinka, mixed rosehip fruits, vitamin C, various medicinal herbs, and caramelized sugar. The name Cockta is derived from the word “cocktail.” In its first year, about one million liters were produced, and during the first 14 years of its existence, its sales grew by 25 percent annually. In the early 1980s, Cockta reached a record-breaking annual sales of 37 million liters.
