There is hardly anyone who has not seen the film “Beloved Love” and who does not remember the words: “My name is Budimir Trajković and I live on the 22nd floor of this building… I go to the second… no, no, no… the third year of high school, and I would like to meet you…”
When Dejan Karaklajić’s film was released in 1977, it was immediately clear that it would become a major hit. It quickly won the hearts of millions of people across the former Yugoslavia, while the young actor Predrag Bolpačić, who played Budimir, became a favorite teenage star.
Predrag got the role of young Trajković through an audition, as at only 17 years old he was already a member of the amateur theater Žikica Jovanović Španac Amateur Theatre. The role of Budimir was his very first film role, and in this production he acted alongside Milena Dravić and Ljubiša Samardžić. The girl Buda falls in love with was played by the late actress Marina Nemet.
The story follows the clumsy teenager Budimir Trajković, for whom bridges are a curse because his father is a bridge engineer. Due to his father’s work and their constant moving, Budimir cannot have the kind of love life enjoyed by his peers. During one attempt by the family to finally settle down, the young man experiences true love for the first time — a love that helps him truly grow up and make an important decision when the next bridge appears.
