Beograđanka – the tallest building in Yugoslav Belgrade
Built between 1969 and 1974, according to the design of architect Branko Pešić, it was the first skyscraper in the city’s downtown area, situated between Slavija and Terazije.
The building stands at 101 meters in height, with 23 floors, representing one of the most significant achievements in Belgrade’s architecture from the late 1960s. At the time, it was the tallest building in Belgrade. The top floor of the building used to house a restaurant with a viewpoint, but it closed in the early 1990s. The local TV station Studio B, which had been broadcasting from this building for decades, then leased the top floor for its own purposes.
The interior of the building was adorned with various artworks, including paintings by Olja Ivanjicki. In the ground floor lobby, there was a guest book. Many famous personalities, artists, and politicians left their signatures and impressions within its walls.
