Whenever her first and last name are mentioned, the association is almost always with a combination of incredible beauty and Balkan temperament—Anica Dobra, one of the most beautiful and attractive Yugoslav actresses.
She was born in Belgrade in 1963. From 1977 to 1981, she lived in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. After that, she returned to Belgrade, where she enrolled at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, studying in the class of Professor Predrag Bajčetić. Immediately after graduating in 1987, she became a permanent member of Atelje 212.
She made her acting debut in the short film Pera Panker in 1985. For the film Déjà Vu (Već viđeno, 1987), she won the Golden Arena Award at the Pula Film Festival. In 1988, she further confirmed her acting career with the role of a singer in the film Balkan Express. She also delivered notable performances in major films such as The Collective Center, How Rock ’n’ Roll Fell Apart, and The Black Bomber, among others.
Throughout much of her career, Anica was perceived by the media and the public as a sex symbol and a “pocket Venus,” as she is 1.64 meters tall. However, the actress never wished to accept that “title,” instead seeing herself as a buddy and a girl from the neighborhood.
In the early 1990s, she began acting in films in Germany, where she has since appeared in around 80 roles.
Today, she lives in Belgrade. She is married and has a daughter, Mina, who is also an actress.
