In September 1982, in Banja Luka, she became Miss Yugoslavia and represented her country at the world pageant in London. This followed a brief modeling career, but the Miss title catapulted her to stardom. What secured Ana Sasso’s status as a timeless sex symbol was the commercial for the drink Pipi. The advertisement was filmed at Bačvice in 1983, and the scenes of a sexy, wet Ana became etched in the memories of many young men of that time.
The young woman from Split did not achieve a particularly notable international modeling career—partly because of love, and partly because at that time there were not many agencies that could have supported Sasso. However, for years she tried to break into the music world: she recorded a duet with Danijel Popović, and she also performed at schlager evenings, where she recorded another duet with the Šibenik klapa.
