Na slovo, na slovo was a Yugoslav children’s television series produced by Television Belgrade and broadcast on the JRT network in 1971. It was a remake of the series of the same name that had originally aired in 1963. Its main purpose was to help children learn the Cyrillic and Latin alphabets.
The show was hosted by Mića Tatić, whose partner was a puppet named Aćim. The series was not only educational but also irresistibly charming and highly popular. Alongside Mića and Aćim appeared the clown-like Ostoja (played by Milutin Butković), who began every word with the letter O, as well as Lola Novaković, Đuza Stojiljković, Baja Bačić, Vlasta Velisavljević, Dragan Laković, and others.
The screenplay and the lyrics of the popular songs featured in the series were written by Dušan Radović, while the director was Vera Belogrlić.
For many, this remarkable series remains unsurpassed and has continued to captivate the attention of the youngest viewers for more than 30 years. It was produced as a high-budget educational, entertainment, and musical program. The episodes run for about 60 minutes and combine comedy sketches, musical performances, and educational stories, making the series so engaging that children watch it from beginning to end without taking their eyes off the screen.
