Monument to the Kosmaj Partisan Detachment

The monument represents a sculptural-architectural composition consisting of five concrete arms, each 30 meters high, symbolizing the spirit of freedom and rebellion. The authors of the monument are sculptor Vojin Stojić and architect Gradimir Medaković.

Situated on one of the prominent peaks of Kosmaj – Malo Viso (576 meters), with a height of 30 meters, the monument quickly became a distinctive symbol of the Kosmaj region and this part of Šumadija. Between the pillars, on the ground, there is a circular pedestal symbolizing the eternal flame.

It was solemnly unveiled on July 2, 1971, on the thirtieth anniversary of the formation of the Kosmaj-Posavina Partisan Detachment, at the location where, on August 8, 1941, during the German offensive on Kosmaj, a battle took place between the fighters of the Second Mladenovac Company of the Kosmaj Detachment and the Germans.
