Miodrag Radovanovic Mrgud

Miodrag Radovanović Mrgud, the actor whom the Yugoslav audience remembers most as Šicer in the television series “Salaš u malom ritu,” was born in Čačak on August 20, 1929.

He acquired the nickname “Mrgud” back in elementary school when a friend gave him that name due to some disagreement. He carried this nickname throughout his life.

He inherited his talent for acting from his mother Živana, which later became his profession. He completed his elementary education in Čačak and attended high school in Kraljevo. From Kraljevo, Miodrag moved to Belgrade, where he studied Slavic languages and agronomy. He graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, which was later renamed the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, studying under Professor Mate Milošević. He secured his first theater engagement in 1952 while still a student at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre in Belgrade, where he worked until his retirement.

Throughout his career, he portrayed 154 roles in theater, film, and television. He also played Spiridon in “The Battle of Kosovo” and Commander Libek in “Balkan Express.”

He was married to Radmila Velicki-Radovanović since 1959, and they had a son named Rastko.

He passed away on January 14, 2019, in Belgrade.
